Henderson, on loan from Manchester United, produced a heroic triple point-blank save to thwart Mario Vrancic on the goal-line during the closing stages of the victory over the Canaries, which saw Chris Wilder’s side climb to sixth place in the Premier League.

“He’s a brilliant young goalkeeper, that’s for sure,” said Lineker, as he discussed United’s win with pundits Danny Murphy and Ian Wright.

It was the 10th clean sheet the 22-year-old stopper has kept this season, drawing him level with Liverpool’s Brazilian star Alisson, as the Blades won the game

Wilder had questioned why Henderson had been named man of the match for simply ‘making a couple of saves’ but Wright said the stops ‘win you matches’.

And he backed the goalkeeper to challenge for the England number one spot for this summer’s European Championships and also touched on his future, with the ‘keeper’s loan spell finishing at the end of the season.

“Ole Gunnar Solskjær has just said that David De Gea is his number one and we know that Henderson wants to play for Manchester United but I think he’s got to make a decision to make because I think he’s more than good enough to be in a top six side’s goal,” said the former Arsenal star.

Meanwhile, Murphy was full of praise for Sharp and said he was ‘surprised’ the skipper had not started more than six games for United.

“I have seen him three times and he’s been tremendous each time, but it shows you how well Sheffield United are doing,” said the former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

“They have got other strikers playing ahead of him but he was terrific today and he got his rewards with the goal.

“But it wasn’t just the goal, it’s his link up as well. He’s very aware of others around him.”
