Sheffield United captain Billy Sharp needed stitches after he was attacked by a pitch-invader following Nottingham Forest’s penalty shootout victory.
The Blades’ 15-goal top-scorer was stood pitchside, where he had watched the Championship play-off final second leg with his teammates, when a supporter appeared to run up and headbutt him.
Sharp was knocked off his his feet in the attack.
A Sheffield United spokesperson confirmed the 36-year-old needed stitches following the incident.
