Slavisa Jokanovic’s Sheffield United reign got off to a winning start tonight in the Blades’ first pre-season game against Europa Point.

Goals from John Egan, Lys Mousset and Tyler Smith sealed victory for the Blades who made 11 changes at half-time to give a number of their young stars a run-out.

It was also be the first time the Blades wore their new black and silver away strip, which is made by Adidas and was released earlier this week – to a great reception from the majority of Blades fans.

This is how the action unfolded.

Sheffield United v Europa Point LIVE

and it’s Mousset who doubles the Blades’ lead just before half-time with a run and composed finish into the corner, it came from Norwood poking the ball through to him in the tackle and the Frenchman made no mistake

as McGoldrick shoots from long range after driving forward with the ball, the ref says it took a touch off a defender and so the Blades have a corner on the right this time, it’s cleared but only as far as Norrington-Davies, who is harried into a loose pass and Bogle has to recover it

by Rhian Brewster as he somehow flicks his header wide after rising to meet Norrington-Davies’ clipped cross in the middle, he looks nailed on to make it 2-0 but can’t get his header on target and falls to the turf

and it’s Egan who gets it, the skipper rising highest and meeting Ollie Norwood’s deep corner with a thumping header into the far corner - no chance for the ‘keeper there and a deserved lead in the 34th minute for the Blades in black

as Mousset takes the ball from Osborn, turns neatly and sees his cross blocked behind

Bogle over the top sets Brewster free down the right, he looks to chop back inside but an important challenge snuffs out the chance

Very close to an opener

after McGoldrick and Osborn link up beautifully with a one two, the former crosses dangerously on his left foot and Mousset is inches away from getting a touch onto it as he slides in the middle - McGoldrick then drills in a cross from the left and the defender casually chests it away for a corner, which Basham heads AGAINST THE BAR!

The Blades scramble clear

after the visitors break through Riquelma (not that one) but Robinson got across to snuff it out before the ref blows his whistle for a water break halfway through the first half

Big chance for the Blades

as Norrington-Davies finds himself in a brilliant position, he looks to shoot on his right foot from a tight angle and it’s blocked away by either the goalkeeper, a defender or a combination of both - a great opening and brilliant defending to keep it at 0-0

Saved by Foderingham

as United are cut open by an incisive pass, Egan’s challenge snuffed out the first chance before Foderingham blocked the second - the flag was already up but he wasn’t to know that before he blocked the shot
