Sheffield United Women look to fans for backing ahead of tough test against Ipswich Town

Sheffield United Women ended their winless run with victory over Durham last weekend

The Blades had suffered two heavy defeats in a row, including a double-figure battering by Manchester United in the cup, but bounced back to see off fellow strugglers Durham Women at the Lane, meting out their own punishment by inflicting a 4-1 beating on the north-east side.

Next up is a much more difficult challenge in Ipswich,

After finishing not far outside of the relegation places in WSL2 last year, the Suffolk outfit have had a very impressive and unbeaten start to this campaign, drawing two and winning two of their four games so far.

While manager Stephen Healy recognises the tough task ahead, he is hoping that support from the stands, akin to last week against Durham, can help United cause something of a shock at Bramall Lane.

“Playing at Bramall Lane is fantastic and having the fans behind us is so important for the girls and for everyone associated at the football club,” said Healy. “It was brilliant to see [the fans’] energy which the girls fed off as well and it's making sure that they come with their voices and and their drums ready for Ipswich which again we know is not going to be an easy challenge.

“There's no easy challenge in in this league so it's making sure that we replicate that performance that we did [against Durham].”
