That was the post-match message from U23 coach Graham Coughlan, as United sealed the league title – and their place in the end-of-season play-offs – with victory at Millwall.

United’s youngsters, who have lost only three times all season in the league, picked up their 16th win of the league campaign at Millwall’s training ground, thanks to goals from Brunt and Gordon.

Tyler Smith, the Sheffield United striker, has opened up on his tough times on loan at Swindon Town this season after revealing he wanted to LEAVE in January.

Smith scored seven goals in 16 games at the back end of last season, but then played only twice between the end of December and mid-March after apparently being frozen out by former manager John Sheridan.

But he has scored twice in his last three games for relegated Swindon, and admitted: “I was looking to go elsewhere [in January] but for certain reasons that didn’t quite happen."

Folarin Balogun, a former Sheffield United target, has admitted his desire is to become a star with Arsenal’s first-team after ending speculation about his future by signing a new long-term contract at The Emirates.

The teenager emerged as a target for the Blades earlier this season, but Balogun put pen to paper on a new long-term deal to keep him in London – before revealing how the dad of current Blade Ethan Ampadu played a part in his development.

Paul Heckingbottom reaffirmed his commitment to developing homegrown talent before overseeing his first victory at the helm against Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend, but explained why it would be doing the likes of Iliman Ndiaye, Brunt, Gordon and centre-forward Antwoine Hackford a disservice to simply throw them in at the deep end.

Sheffield United have been warned not to stifle the development of Bramall Lane’s most gifted young players when they begin the process of reshaping their squad this summer.

Despite insisting there will be no fire sale of talent after being relegated from the Premier League, United are expected to be active in the transfer market with some of their leading performers likely to be poached by top-flight clubs.
