Sheffield United missed the chance to move off the bottom of the Premier League table despite a much-improved performance at Wolves today. The Blades acquitted themselves much better than last weekend's 5-0 hammering at home to Brighton and were left ruing a big missed chance by James McAtee in the first half.
Just moments later Wolves went up the other end and scored the only goal of the game, a header by Pablo Sarabia. The game also saw a bizarre on-field spat between teammates Jack Robinson and Vini Souza, which saw VAR take a look before deciding there was no case for a violent conduct punishment. Here's how we rated United's players at Molineux...
9. Gus Hamer 6.5
Could and should have added an assist to his tally for the season after his lovely pass sent McAtee through on goal but the Man City man's finish was poor. Was always willing to take the ball and make things happen and had a couple of lively moments before an atrocious set-piece saw United spend time getting it set up right before Hamer clipped it to absolutely no-one, leaving Wilder holding his eyes
10. James McAtee 4.5
Squandered a golden chance for the Blades when Hamer's excellent pass sent him free but his weak shot was easily saved by Sa and United paid the price just moments later when Sarabia put Wolves ahead at the other end. His hapless afternoon was summed up when he twice got in the way of a Norwood pass which would have found a teammate in a better position, although he fired just wide of Sa's goal shortly after after fashioning a yard of space
11. Rhian Brewster 6
Handed a start with Archer still out and almost repaid the faith with an early goal, with his first effort blocked well by Dawson and the second from a tight angle repelled even more impressively by goalkeeper Sa on the line. Should have tested Sa again soon after when Bogle's flick on sent him clear but he skewed his shot badly, admittedly under pressure from Toti who was haring back to challenge him. Had a couple more sights of goal in the second half and understandably cramped up after a full-throttle display which saw him replaced by Osula late on
12. Subs: Ben Osborn 5
Came on at left wing-back and offered more energy going forward than the tiring Larouci. Also used: Osula, T. Davies, McBurnie n/a
