Sheffield United passed another major test of character tonight as they continued their good recent run of form at Hull City with a 2-0 victory. Goals in either half from Gus Hamer and sub Sam McCallum sealed victory for the Blades, who go up to third ahead of the weekend’s games.
Hull rallied in the second half slightly and hit the bar through Marvin Melhem while goalkeeper Michael Cooper made a smart save from a mishit cross by Mohamed Belloumi but it was a deserved three points for Chris Wilder’s men. Here’s how we rated them at the MKM Stadium...

9. Callum O'Hare 7.5
In the side for his invention but it was his industry that helped make the first mark on this game as he won the ball back inside his own half as Hull dallied and then drove forward before feeding Hamer on the outside to finish. Drifted all over to get involved in the game and did his defensive duties well as well in terms of the press, before he made way for Brewster just after the hour mark | Sportimage

10. Gus Hamer 8
Continued his fine run of form with his third goal of the season, a superb finish into the bottom corner from O'Hare's pass, and looked a constant threat as he drifted inside from that left wing position and looked to cause chaos. Looked to be struggling with some sort of fitness issue just before the hour mark and subsequently made way soon after, with United hoping that it's nothing too serious for their key man Photo: Nathan Stirk

11. Kieffer Moore 6
Should have gone into the game full of confidence after scoring for Wales earlier this week and had a good chance to add to his tally with United from Hamer's pass over the top, but he couldn't get his shot off in time before the defender recovered and the chance went begging. Had some good moments, including a inch-perfect pass for a Rak-Sakyi chance, but some less memorable ones, including an attempt to lob Pandur from about 45 yards when Rak-Sakyi to his right was a much better option. Made way late on for Shackleton Photo: Nathan Stirk

12. Subs: Sam McCallum 7.5
Came on for Hamer and went to the left wing and made his presence felt quickly with a great finish into the bottom corner from 2-0 after a flick from his fellow sub Brooks | PA
