Sheffield United were undone in the 90th minute against Wolves this afternoon after going toe-to-toe with the relegated side for most of the afternoon. The game may have lacked much goalmouth action at either end, at least until substitute Raul Jiminez struck with less than a minute of normal time left, but lacked little else between both boxes.
The Blades changed shape to a 3-5-2 against the recently-relegated Wolves with Mark McGuinness handed a reprieve and Tom Cannon and Romelle Donovan both on the bench.
Jordan Ayew made his Blades debut, and almost scored soon after when a good driving run ended with a shot just wide of the post, while Wolves should have had a penalty when Mark McGuinness handled but referee Rob Jones made a baffling call - not for the first time all afternoon, it should be said.
But their star quality told when three subs combined - Kieran Trippier’s cross finding former Blades loanee Tommy Doyle, who’s mishit shot landed in the path of Jiminez to tap home and send Wolves fans behind the goal absolutely barmy.
Here’s how we rated United’s players on the day...

5. Liam Kitching 7
His left foot offers nice balance for the Blades as they shifted shape and a big early block helped keep the scores level after Bueno shot goalwards and Cooper looked to be scrambling. At the other end there were shades of years gone by as he attacked on the overlap and a couple of promising situations saw him cross into the box and Wolves just about scramble clear, with Blades fans reacting positively. Not to compare them as footballers in any way but Jack O'Connell would also have been proud of a thundering tackle that snuffed out a chance for Wolves but also left the attacker sprawled on the deck | ugc

6. Sam McCallum 6
Directly up against Wolves' biggest threat early on in Gomes and it didn't help that he was on a yellow card inside the first two minutes, after stopping a promising Wolves attack in the opening exchanges. There was no leniency from ref Jones on that occasion and McCallum will have had heart in mouth around the half hour mark when Gomes skipped past him but just about evaded contact that would have given Jones a big call to make at a key time. Between those points he'd also been caught in possession after failing to clear and watched as Gomes shot wide after being played in, and took a whack right on the stroke of half-time which incredibly saw him penalised. He reappeared after the break but looked a bit restricted and went down with five or so to go, to be replaced by Norrington-Davies | ugc

7. Kalvin Phillips 7
Made a first start of the season and didn't give any of Wolves' midfielders a second to settle as he hassled and harried them whenever they even thought about going near him in the middle of the park. But his presence also gave the outside centre-halves Tanganga and Kitching the licence to get forward, with Phillips instinctively slotting in to offer protection should the ball get turned over. Made way just after the hour mark for Cannon with some more valuable minutes under his belt | UGC

8. Sydie Peck 7
Fresh from his goal and assist on Tuesday and looking to build on it, Peck looked fired up for this one, even by his standards. He snapped into tackles from early on, celebrating after winning one against Wolves skipper Andre, and was good on the ball too, including a right-wing run when he kept it impressively despite facing a number of defenders with no support, although he couldn't catch his shot properly when McCallum crossed, Brereton Diaz dummied and Sa claimed easily. Later found space down the right but his cross couldn't be turned home by Bamford or Cannon. Didn't deserve to be on the losing side | ugc
