Sheffield United's Championship rivals 'interested' in QPR defender as winger bid 'rejected'

All the very latest Championship transfer rumours as the countdown to the start of the 2026/27 season continues.

Sheffield United stepped up their pre-season preparations with a 2-1 win over Spanish side Levante UD on Friday.

First half goals from full-backs Femi Seriki and Sam McCallum got the job done for the Blades, who spent almost a week training in Spain prior to Friday’s friendly.

Chris Wilder and his players have now returned to England and are preparing for their fourth outing of the summer - a behind-closed-doors tussle against Huddersfield Town at their Shirecliffe training ground on Tuesday.

With just three weeks to go until their opening game of the 2026/27 campaign - a Carabao Cup first round tussle with Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium - the Blades remain keen to get new faces through the door as quickly as possible. Jaïro Riedewald, who was originally released, and Romelle Donovan have been the only additions to Wilder’s squad so far this summer.

With the clock ticking down to the start of the campaign, clubs across the Championship are working tirelessly to strengthen their squads. With that in mind, here are some of the latest transfer rumours involving Sheffield United's Championship rivals...

Clarets ‘keen’ on Edwards

Burnley are ‘interested’ in signing QPR centre-back Ronnie Edwards, according to a report by West London Sport. The Clarets confirmed the departure of star centre-back Maxime Estève on Friday, meaning they are looking for a replacement following his move to RB Leipzig.

Edwards, who was once a target for Sheffield Wednesday, joined QPR from Southampton for an undisclosed fee in this year’s January transfer window, signing a long-term deal with the Hoops. The 23-year-old had previously spent time on loan at Loftus Road during the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.

Having signed Edwards for £4.5 million just six months ago, Burnley's interest could give QPR the chance to make a quick profit. The defender has made 17 appearances for the Londoners since joining on a permanent basis, scoring one goal.

Edwards first made a name for himself at Peterborough United before moving to Southampton and eventually becoming a fans' favourite at Loftus Road. As a result, QPR supporters will be hoping he remains at the club this summer.

West ham ‘reject’ Summerville bid

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United have ‘rejected’ an offer from AS Roma for winger Crysencio Summerville. It has been reported Roma made an opening offer ‘worth €40m (£34m at the current exchange rate) plus add-ons’.

The Dutchman, who joined the Londoners from Leeds United in August 2024, has been strongly linked with an exit from the London Stadium in the last few weeks. Manchester United and Aston Villa are among the clubs to have been credited with interest in his signature.

Summerville, who has three years left on his Hammers contract, scored five goals and registered two assists in the Premier League last season as West Ham were relegated to the Championship.

The winger, who scored twice for the Netherlands at this summer’s World Cup, last played in the Championship in 2023/24, scoring 20 goals for Leeds as they narrowly missed out on promotion via the play-offs.

It is claimed talks between Roma and West Ham remain ongoing.
