Sheffield United star Sydie Peck secures latest England youth call-up ahead of key qualifiers

Sheffield United midfielder Sydie Peck has earned his latest call-up for England’s Under-21s.

Sheffield United midfielder Sydie Peck has earned another call-up to the England Under-21s squad ahead of their upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Kazakhstan, Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland.

Seven matches into their qualifying campaign, the Three Lions youngsters currently sit top of Group D with 19 points, having recorded six wins and one draw.

Lee Carsley’s side have won the last two UEFA European Under-21 Championship titles, meaning they will be determined to secure their place at next summer’s tournament in Albania and Serbia.

The England youngsters will face Kazakhstan in their opening game of the upcoming international break on Friday, September 25, when they lock horns with them at Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux.

They will then take on Slovakia, who are currently second in Group D, three points behind England, at Stoke City’s bet365 Stadium on Friday, October 2.

Carsley’s troops will then travel to Cork to face the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday, October 6, bringing their qualifying campaign to a close. The Three Lions youngsters could secure qualification for next summer’s finals following their clash with Slovakia.

Peck, who described United’s 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night as “unacceptable”, has been a regular fixture throughout England’s qualifying campaign, featuring in each of their first seven qualifiers, making two starts and five substitute appearances.

Peck has been included in the squad alongside a collection of fellow Championship players, including Middlesbrough duo Amario Cozier-Duberry and Will Lankshear, who have both received their first-ever call-ups to England’s Under-21s squad.
