Ben Brereton Díaz shares next Sheffield United target following uplifting Wrexham victory

Ben Brereton Díaz scored the winner as Sheffield United beat Wrexham 1-0 at Bramall Lane on Friday night.

Attacker Ben Brereton Díaz has said that finding some consistency must now be the aim for Sheffield United after they extended their unbeaten run to three matches with a 1-0 victory over Wrexham at Bramall Lane on Friday night.

Brereton Díaz scored the only goal of the game in the first half, tapping home from close range after Wrexham goalkeeper Anthony Patterson could only parry Jordan Ayew’s effort into the path of the Southampton loanee, who made no mistake to claim his first goal of the season.

United were in control throughout the contest and had several opportunities to add to their tally, while Wrexham managed just one shot on target.

Ahead of Saturday’s fixtures, the Blades’ Friday night triumph moved them to within one point of the play-off places. They have collected ten points from their last five matches since the extended international break.

With just two more games to go before the November hiatus, Brereton Díaz, who is currently in his third loan spell at Bramall Lane, has highlighted the importance of United building some consistency, with the Blades yet to record back-to-back victories this season.

“I think in the last game against Derby, we all know we started a bit slow and stuff like that, so we wanted to come out aggressively,” Brereton Díaz told United’s YouTube channel.

“We’ve got to keep the consistency now and keep it going and go into the international break with some more points.”

He continued: “I think it’s been a positive start to the season. We’ve had ups and downs, but that happens in football.

“We’ve got to stick together as a team and as a club, and we are doing that by picking up good points, good wins. We’re sitting in a nice spot.

“Like I said, we’ve got to be positive now, pick up a few more points and then go into the international break in a nice spot for when we get back.”
