A bright future for this boy

Harry Boyes has already been tipped to play for Sheffield United...

Bradford Park Avenue boss Mark Bower said that he wouldn’t be surprised to see Harry Boyes play for Sheffield United’s first team in the future after the youngster’s loan spell in West Yorkshire came to an end earlier this season.

Boyes made 14 appearances for Avenue after joining on loan from the Blades in October, but returned in January and has since helped United’s U23s win their league title.

Bower said at the time: “We knew with how well he was doing; it was going to be really tough to keep him after January and likely that he would step to a higher level to play the rest of the season.

“He has been a real positive for us and scored a couple of unbelievable goals. We are thankful to both Harry and the club.

“Technically on the ball and going forward he has got such good quality and has improved greatly in the defensive side and physicality in the short time he has been with us.

“So, with the assets he has already got and if he can improve, which he will do as he gets older and bigger, he could go a long way and potentially be playing in Sheffield United’s first team at some point.”

A bit of reaction to that team news from Twitter...

Exciting Sheffield United Women youngster pens new deal

Exciting young Sheffield United Women midfielder Tamara Wilcock has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 17-year-old was top scorer in the club’s development squad before the academy season was curtailed by the Covid-19 pandemic. She subsequently joined up with the senior side and has stayed there since.

Wilcock, who doesn’t turn 18 until October, featured in several matchday squads last season and made her senior first team debut away at Crystal Palace in April.
