It’s almost the end of a sorry season for Sheffield United, with just one game remaining of their current Premier League adventure before their return to the Championship.

The Blades face Burnley on Sunday – in front of fans, of course! – and boss Paul Heckingbottom will face the media this afternoon to preview it. We’ll have that, and all the other stories to come out of Bramall Lane today, covered right here in our live blog.

Newcastle v Blades LIVE

forces a corner as Willock gets across to block as Saint-Maximin stays down after taking a knock moments earlier

Here comes Brewster

for his 29th appearance in Blades colours, is tonight the night for his first goal? United will certainly hope so...

Blades are preparing Rhian Brewster

from the bench - he’ll replace Ben Osborn as United go in search of a way back into this game

to the rescue after Saint-Maximin raced clear of Egan, he looked to square it from a tight angle but Ramsdale got a strong hand to it and palmed it away for a corner, which he claims at the second attempt

to get his head to Fleck’s driven cross, but he’s off balance and can’t get it on target

right on the edge of the area as Shelvey bundles over Basham after a neat one-two with McGoldrick, Shelvey isn’t happy and it was a bit soft but United won’t mind as they now have a good opening from this free-kick, central about two or three yards outside the box - five men currently standing over it... McGoldrick takes it but it flashes wide of the left-hand post

We’re back underway

with no changes made at half-time for the Blades

and with pretty much the last touch of the half Newcastle went ahead through Willock’s header - Ramsdale didn’t deserve that after a string of fine saves, but Newcastle were knocking on the door and eventually blew it down to lead at the break.

First-half player ratings:

Ramsdale 8

Bogle 6

Basham 6

Egan 6

Robinson 6

Stevens 6

Norwood 5

Fleck 6

Osborn 6

McGoldrick 6

Jebbison 6

and it’s Willock who gets it, heading home unmarked in the middle to finally beat Ramsdale who is again absolutely spitting at his defenders - a sublime pass from Saint Maximin to Murphy, whose cross finds Willock in the middle who had the easiest task to head home in first-half injury time

by Ramsdale - the flag goes up for offside eventually anyway so it wouldn’t have counted but Ramsdale did superbly to deny Willock after Saint-Maximin slid the ball across from him. A strong hand to keep it out - it wouldn’t have counted anyway but Ramsdale wasn’t to know that
