The second in particular was impressive as United seized control of the game against the league’s bottom side, before closing out the game after Callum Lang reduced the deficit after 76 minutes.
Here’s how we rated United’s players, with a rare perfect 10 for the star of the show...

5. Harrison Burrows 7
Penalised again for a foul throw, a cardinal sin for any professional never mind one in the Championship twice in the space of a few games, but that was only a mild misstep in a positive display which saw him get forward at will and link up with Donovan nicely, including for Peck's third in first-half stoppage time | ugc

6. Jairo Riedewald 6
Got the nod in midfield with Phillips injured and Rothwell also absent, to make a rare start. He was solid rather than spectacular, leaving the heroics to his central midfield partner and instead keeping things simple | uGc

7. Sydie Peck 10
Good lord. A first career hat-trick for the young midfielder and a first for United since Billy Sharp at Aston Villa in 2019, all in the space of 20 or so minutes. The first had perhaps a stroke of fortune as his cross found its way in, although he will have no doubt been aiming to put it in that corridor of uncertainty between defence and goalkeeper, but the second was remarkable. A pass from Brereton Diaz sent him clear but 'keeper Iversen sent him clear and Peck seemed to be on the ball for about five minutes as he plotted his next move. Initially you thought 'Why hasn't he passed that to a teammate?' but he answered that emphatically by smashing it into the top corner to put the Blades ahead. And the third arrived in first half stoppage time, Peck showing great tenacity to burst into the box and tap home Donovan's cross. He went close to a fourth in the second half, forcing a save from Iversen, and smashed another shot just wide of the far post. A rare perfect 10 for a remarkable performance | ugc

8. Tahith Chong 7
Some threatening moments on the other flank including what could have been a lovely goal early in the second half when he nutmegged his man and looked to curl towards the top corner, and not missing by a great deal either. Made way for Arblaster just before the hour mark | ugc
