The tragic passing of George Baldock has rekindled memories of his seven years at Sheffield United, which were littered with glorious moments.
The right back was signed by Chris Wilder from MK Dons in 2017 and would go on to play a huge role in helping the Blades win promotion to the Premier League in 2019. Not content with merely making up the numbers in the top flight, the Blades took the Premier League by storn and finished ninth, with Baldock at the heart of their combative and hugely entertaining football.
Relegation followed the season after as COVID gripped the country and United narrowly lost in the play-off semi finals to Nottingham Forest before a year later going up under Paul Heckingbottom.
In what would be Baldock’s final season at the club, and injuries taking their toll, United were relegated again with Baldock and other members of that memorable team leaving the club.
Baldock’s shocking passing has stunned everyone in football, not least at his beloeved Blades and we’ve taken a look into the archives to pick out pictures that sum up the hugely popular player’s time in the red and white. Once a Blade, always a Blade.
