Whether or not Sheffield United can pull off a minor miracle and survive in the Premier League in the final 10 matches of their campaign, a big summer looms at Bramall Lane as Chris Wilder looks to mastermind the second big Blades revolution of his managerial career. As many as 19 players could walk away at the end of the season while a big sale will also be necessary to plug the financial deficit if United are relegated.
But a number of young starlets are signed to long-term deals ensuring at least a bit of security for the Blades in that department. With that in mind we looked at 17 players who could leave or stay at Bramall Lane next season - who would you like to keep?
9. George Baldock
Another stalwart coming to the end of his contract having suffered ill-timed bad luck with injuries, but Wilder was spot on to say that Baldock’s attitude epitomises a Sheffield United player and hopefully something can be sorted so he remains here next season and beyond Photo: Michael Regan/Getty Images
10. Chris Basham
Much depends on the rehabilitation process after his horror injury but even Basham himself was realistic enough to admit the future is uncertain in a recent interview. He will be 36 shortly after his contract expires this summer and United can’t afford to hand out new deals on sentiment as they look to rebuild Photo: Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images
11. Ollie Norwood
A seasoned campaigner at Championship level, could Norwood get another crack at promotion next season if the Blades return to the second tier? There’s certainly an argument to be made, in a division where pace and power are not as important and the midfielder will get more time to get on the ball and dictate play as we know he can Photo: Matt McNulty/Getty Images
12. Yasser Larouci
United have the option to make his loan move from Troyes permanent but at the price it is set at, there is no chance it will be activated and the former Liverpool man is expected to return to France with United’s best wishes
