Sheffield United's FA Cup adventure came to a brave end at Wembley this afternoon against Premier League giants Manchester City.
United defended superbly and were well in the game until the stroke of half-time when a penalty gave Riyad Mahrez the chance to put his side ahead.
The Algerian added two further goals in the second half as City booked their place in the final courtesy of a 3-0 win, but it was a day United – and their fans – could be proud of.

Gave City an early reminder of the threat United possess when he burst past Laporte down the Blades right and crossed but Akanji got there ahead of Jebbison. Caused Gomez more problems when he burst down the line in the second half but no United man could get a toe on the ball before Ortega gathered. Kept his place in midfield and helped United keep their shape well in the face of the expected dominance City had over the ball. Snapped into tackles when the opportunity presented itself and also looked to use the ball smartly when City handed over possession. Made way for Sharp Photo: GLYN KIRK
Had a golden chance to give United the lead inside the first two minutes after finding space in the box from a corner but his shot was straight at Ortega and he blocked with his legs. Saw more of the ball than any other Blade in the first half but couldn't fashion another clear-cut chance. Handed a huge chance to show what he can do and what impact he could make on the biggest stage of all at Wembley but unfortunately made one at the wrong end, as his rash decision to try and clear the ball saw him make contact with Bernardo Silva instead for the penalty.
