Freeman, who helped United to the League One title during his time at Bramall Lane, made a shock switch to the promotion-chasing Swans after a couple of games for Swindon Town in League One.

He made his only Swans appearance against Manchester City in the League Cup, coming off the bench as a 66th-minute substitute in a 3-1 defeat, and was on the bench at Wembley as the Swans lost in the play-off final to Brentford last weekend.

“Everyone at Swansea City wishes them well in their future careers,” a club statement read.
