Former Sheffield United star released by Championship rivals after just one appearance
Kieron Freeman, the former Sheffield United star, has been released by the Blades’ Championship rivals Swansea City after making just one appearance.
Freeman, who helped United to the League One title during his time at Bramall Lane, made a shock switch to the promotion-chasing Swans after a couple of games for Swindon Town in League One.
He made his only Swans appearance against Manchester City in the League Cup, coming off the bench as a 66th-minute substitute in a 3-1 defeat, and was on the bench at Wembley as the Swans lost in the play-off final to Brentford last weekend.
He is one of four players to be released by Swansea this season, with Andre Ayew, Declan John and Barrie McKay all departing. Swansea have offered a fresh contract to 36-year-old Wayne Routledge as he recovers from knee surgery.
“Everyone at Swansea City wishes them well in their future careers,” a club statement read.
