Sheffield United play their penultimate friendly of a truncated pre-season friendly tonight when they make the short trip to the Keepmoat Stadium to face Doncaster Rovers.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s men then face Norwich City on Saturday – or are scheduled to, anyway, after City returned a number of positive Covid-19 tests of their own this week, forcing the cancellation of their pre-season clash with Coventry City – before the season gets underway for good the weekend after, at home to Birmingham City.

United will be backed by over 3,000 fans tonight, their largest and indeed only away following since before the pandemic began.

Doncaster Rovers v Blades LIVE

Robinson heads clear

after a good ball over the top was helped back into the box by Tommy Rowe, Trialist Three then had an ambitious go on the volley but dragged his shot a little and it went wide of Ramsdale’s right-hand post

Good chance for the Blades

as Baldock and Burke combine smartly with a quick one-two, the right-back’s cross is low across the box but it evades everyone - just needed a touch from someone, with Mousset playing centrally as things stand

to a hearty round of applause and the game continues, Berge is seeing plenty of the ball in midfield, as is Norwood

Early break in play

as Trialist 2 for Donny goes down after a challenge with Norwood and has come off considerably worse, the game has stopped for quite a while as he receives treatment but he looks like he’ll be leaving the field on a stretcher - wishing him all the best and a speedy recovery. Norwood will be fine to continue after a bit of patching up, by the way

Here come the teams

with the Blades in their all black away strip, given a big round of applause from their travelling fans behind the goal before they go into their pre-match huddle

These Blades fans are starting to feel the excitement

What a great sight and sound it is

to hear Blades fans back in an away end after far too long - over 3,000 at Donny tonight for their first away game in 17 months and maybe a little sign that nature is healing a little and life is getting back to something like normal... fingers crossed, at least

We don’t know how to read into that...

...but the three players all subject of interest from other clubs this summer are all starting. George Baldock, being chased at one point by Celtic is in there as well as Sander Berge and Aaron Ramsdale who Arsenal have been linked with.
