Chris Wilder's update on reports Manchester United could cut short Dean Henderson's loan spell at Sheffield United

Chris Wilder, the Sheffield United manager, has broken his silence on media reports that Manchester United may look to recall Dean Henderson when his loan expires, rather than leave him at Bramall Lane for as long as the Premier League season takes to complete.

Henderson''s scenario is just one thrown into doubt by the suspension of the Premier League owing to the coronavirus crisis. The league remains determined to start again, when it is deemed safe to do so, but it is inevitable that games will be played past the point when players' contracts expire on June 30.

Henderson was scheduled to spend the season on loan at Bramall Lane, with his loan having a cut-off point of the end of May. National newspaper reports suggest that Ole Gunnar Solskjær, the Old Trafford boss, could consider recalling Henderson at that point - a move which would significantly weaken one of their rivals for a European place.

Wilder's men are just two points behind their namesakes from Manchester in the table, with a game in hand.

But Wilder, speaking on the Keys and Gray show, said: "Of course I personally think it'd be morally correct to leave him at Sheffield United for the last 10 games.

"But because of the legalities and the situation regarding the expiry of loans, they might take that decision.

"But we're not a threat to Man U, and I'm sure they'll be happy with the players they've got to see them through the season."
