Chris Wilder's Sheffield United transfer update ahead of 11pm January deadline

Chris Wilder says no Sheffield United players will be leaving Bramall Lane ahead of tonight's 11pm transfer deadline, after signalling that none will come into the building either.

Wilder had targeted a new defender to replace Jack O'Connell and a midfielder to boost his squad as they look to pull off the great escape and avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

Jesse Lingard and Ben Davies had been earmarked as Wilder's top targets in this window, but Lingard went to West Ham while Davies is close to joining Liverpool from Preston North End.

And Wilder, speaking ahead of tomorrow's clash with West Brom, said: "I'll do what I can for the football club to the best of my ability, we've not been able to bring players in and I've got to quickly move on with the players I've got.

"You've seen the squad how stretched it is so no-one will be going out of the building."
