Bogle arrived in the summer from Pride Park in a cut-price double-deal along with left wing-back Max Lowe, who has featured five times in the Premier League after making his debut in an EFL Cup tie at Burnley.

That game remains Bogle's only appearance for the Blades, leading to some fans questioning why he hasn't yet featured in the league.

And Wilder, speaking this afternoon at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's Bramall Lane clash with Leicester City, revealed: "I can only play 11 and with the changes as well... we've had far too many changes to that back five to make another one, especially with a young player.

"I want my experienced players to play. That's not to say we haven't got faith in Jayden and if George got injured, or I decided he wasn't doing enough, then he'd go in."

With injuries to the likes of Jack O'Connell, Enda Stevens and Ethan Ampadu in recent weeks, United have been unable to field a settled back line.

"If you look at our recruitment in the summer, with Max and Jayden and Rhian [Brewster] and Rammers [Aaron Ramsdale], they're young players," Wilder added.

"Three are involved at the moment and Jayden is pushing. He's a good player already and he'll be a better one.

"But with the amount of changes we've had, to make another one at this stage, with how we've gone so far... that's why I haven't."
