'Brilliant for the game' - Former Chelsea star 'loves' Chris Wilder and backs Sheffield United to bounce back
Chris Wilder has been backed to bring the good times to Bramall Lane again
A former Chelsea player and coach has admitted his ‘love’ for Chris Wilder as he looks into who will make a push in the Championship next season.
There are some big guns coming down to the second tier, likely to be one from West Ham and Tottenham plus Wolves and Burnley and the expectancy will be on the three relegated sides to bounce back up into the Premier League.
However, Jody Morris, who played for Chelsea and also coached alongside Frank Lampard in the EFL believes there will be an improvement at Bramall Lane next season, backed by changes from Wilder in the summer.
Asked who he thinks will challenge in the Championship next year, Morris, speaking in conjunction with FindSisterSites, said: “You've got to think about the three teams that are coming down straight away with these parachute payments. If Ipswich were one of the teams that maybe don't go up, there's another one.
“I think Sheffield United are going to be making big changes in the summer, Chris Wilder has already come out and said that. He's another manager that I love. I think Chris Wilder is brilliant for the game, he's been brilliant for Sheffield United. Again, he knows what it takes.
“He'll certainly want to get his hands on that group of players and maybe change quite a few. He already came out last week and said he knows what's needed. So you then look at a team like that and go, well, they're going to be better. So who knows?
“It's such a difficult, difficult league. Any of these managers that manage to get out, especially without parachute payments and coming down from the Premier League with an already assembled squad that can compete, anyone that can get out of that league without that, that's why you look at Lampard and that’s why he's just got Manager of the Year.”

Wilder admitted recently that he will not allow a season like this one, where United struggled with inconsistency after a poor start to the campaign.
He said following the weekend defeat to Preston on what was a depressing final home game of the season: “It wasn't in a great place [when we returned] but we have underachieved. We should have more points. Whether we should have enough points to be in and around where some people think, I'm not sure.
“But certainly we should have more points on the board. So to me, it’s a big summer ahead of us, A lot of hard work. Getting the right players in, getting the players out that we need to, and to go again.
“We certainly won't be in this position next year, absolutely 100 per cent. When we came out of the Premier League, I did something for myself to promise that wouldn’t happen again. I potentially will do something now, to look back on this time next year.”
United take on Derby County, once coached by Morris, in the final game of the campaign this weekend.
