Sheffield United Digest: Blades seek answer from West Brom, Fulham 'target'; Jayden Bogle update; Fixture analysis

West Brom eyeing up Bryan

West Bromwich Albion could join the race to sign Kean Bryan on a free transfer from Sheffield United, with the former Manchester City youngster yet to accept the new contract he was offered by the Blades this summer.

Bryan was offered fresh terms after some impressive displays at Premier League level last season, including his first goal in United colours to help secure a memorable victory at Manchester United.

Norwich stance on Bogle revealed

Jayden Bogle, the Sheffield United defender, is NOT on Norwich City’s shortlist to replace Max Aarons if the young right back is sold this summer, according to reports in Norfolk.

Sky Sports previously suggested that Norwich may turn to Bogle if the newly-promoted Canaries lose Aarons this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League.

United, for their part, were relaxed about the situation, having no intention to cash in on Bogle – who is also thought to be happy at the Blades after signing last summer in a bargain £5m double-deal from Derby County. READ FULL STORY HERE

Slav will be happy with Blades’ midweek lot – unlike Neil Warnock

Former Blades boss Neil Warmock, now in charge of Middlesbrough, has criticised the Championship fixture planners for failing to take into account the midweek journeys that followers of his own team face during the forthcoming campaign.

But his former club Sheffield United, where Slavisa Jokanovic is preparing to officially take charge next week, will be broadly satisfied with their schedule outside of the traditional Saturday slots.

United will make round trips totalling 1274 miles before completing their season with a home game against Fulham - the team Jokanovic led to promotion three years ago - in May.

The longest of those against Reading at the Madejski Stadium - takes place in November. The second most arduous journey - April’s assignment with Bristol City - takes place on a Bank Holiday; which should make it easier for fans to attend and also for Jokanovic to prepare his squad properly, with a 72 hour gap between that match and Good Friday’s return game against their rivals from Berkshire. Blades drawn at home in first round of cup

Sheffield United have been drawn at home to League Two side Carlisle United in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

The draw was conducted this afternoon by Andy Cole and Danny Murphy, with United handed a home tie in the first round of the League Cup against the Cumbrians.

The two sides last met in March 2014 at Bramall Lane, when Jose Baxter’s winner secured a 1-0 victory against a Carlisle side that included current England No.1 Jordan Pickford.

Harry Maguire and Conor Coady, later to play in front of Pickford for the England national team, were in the Blades’ line-up that evening. READ FULL STORY HERE
