But what about Sheffield United?
Who are the best players from overseas to have graced the hallowed turf of Bramall Lane?
Here’s what a selection of Blades fans on Twitter and Facebook have told us.

9. Petr Katchouro, Belarus
Signed by Howard Kendall in 1996, Katchouro spent four years in South Yorkshire making over 100 appearances for United and reaching the First Division play-off final against Crystal Palace in 1997 before leaving following the turn of the new millennium. Speaking to The Star earlier this year, Katchouro revealed he watches every United game from his home in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Photo: JPI Media
Record signing Berge may have only joined the club in January, but has already proved a hit with United fans who are expecting big things from the midfielder as he continues to adapt to English football and Chris Wilder's unique style of play. Berge's still learning the position but has the qualities to be a success on the right side of midfield under Wilder. Photo: Simon Bellis
Ok, McGoldrick may have been born and bred just 40 or so miles down the road in Nottingham but is a full Republic of Ireland international and, it's fair to say, has become a huge favourite with supporters, team-mates and boss Chris Wilder alike for the 'special' contribution he brings to to the team since checking in at the Lane in the summer of 2018. He was named as the club's Player of the Year in 2018/19 season after his 15 goals in 44 appearances helped United secure promotion to the Premier League. Photo: Simon Bellis
We've probably saved the best until last with Alex Sabella, the man dubbed the replacement for fellow Argentinian Diego Maradona (remember him?) who had been set for a sensational switch to the Lane in 1978 before United pulled the plug on the move due to a lack of finances. Instead, the club moved for a cheaper option and River Plate midfielder Sabella who became an instant hit on Bramall Lane terraces. “My dad reckons he could do things with a football he hasn't seen since,” says United writer, Danny Hall. Sabella made over 70 appearances for the club and not even a move to Leeds United in 1980 can sour the memories of him for many Blades fans. Photo: JPI Media
