John Sheridan's second stint as Spireites supremo got off to a victorious start on Saturday, thanks to a late, late winner.
Tom Denton came off the bench to score his eighth cup goal of the season and hand Town a 1-0 victory over Evo-Stik South Division One Central outfit Bedford Town.
Tom Denton (7) was the difference, winning a knock-down on 89 minutes and latching onto the ball as it bounced off a defender, his smart finish winning it for Town.
Shwan Jalal (6) had one, fairly routine, save to make in the game. A bystander for the most part, but added to his collection of clean sheets in his first game back since September.
Jonathan Smith (6) moved back to right-back, where he is effective but not as influential on a game. Had to be alert to deal with a lively winger. Didn't have his shooting boots on.
Jerome Binnom-Williams (6) cut through the defence with one eye-catching run in the first half but as is too often the case, didn't make the keeper work. Troubled Bedford, but not consistently.
Haydn Hollis (6) saw a lot of the ball as Town looked to play out from the back and did okay in possession. Helped keep Bedford's targetman quiet.
Will Evans (6) had a comfortable afternoon, defensively and like Hollis gave Bedford little joy when they went long.
Robbie Weir (6) has looked the part since coming back, particularly when playing diagonal balls out to the flanks. Was barking orders, organising team-mates. Injury ended his day early.
Curtis Weston (5) should have featured more prominently, against a side from so low down the non-league pyramid.
Lee Shaw (7) wanted the ball lots, made himself available and wanted to try and get at his man. Involved in lead-up to the goal. Cut inside looking for shots himself.
Kyel Reid (6) Got involved in plenty of attacks, effort was there if quality wasn't always evident. Produced a couple of lovely touches, also guilty of wasting possession
Joe Rowley (5) had a couple of nice moments but hasn't yet seemed to make himself fully comfortable in the attacking central midfield role.
Marc-Antoine Fortune (5) should have been too experienced and too clever for the Bedford defence but never really troubled them. Wasted the one good chance he had.
