South Yorkshire Police said on their @syptweet Twitter account that extra officers are patrolling to deal with any disorder before or after the England v Italy game at Wembley tonight, as people gather to watch in Sheffield pubs and gatherings of friends and family.
The Twitter feed said: “We're getting closer to kick-off! If you are heading out to watch the match, you might notice more of our officers than usual out on patrol as we anticipate a busy afternoon and evening.

Hide Ad“They are there to provide support and prevent any disorder before and after the game, so we can all have fun and enjoy it safely.
If you are heading to a licensed premises, please remember that most places require you to book, and ensure you follow their guidelines to remain Covid safe.
“Please enjoy the game, but know we will not tolerate criminal behaviour and will be on hand if we are needed.
