“I think you’ve got to believe it,” the 20-year-old said. “It gives you a drive.

“Everyone wants to get promoted and aim as high as possible.

“The aim is to get promoted so we’ve got to believe we can do that.

“I think the manager and the players have just managed to get the belief back that we can win games and go into every game think we can win them.

“When we were struggling we were thinking it’s going to be a tough game and we’re going to struggle.

“Now we go in confident we can win.”

The Doncaster-born midfielder became the latest player to pen a lengthy contract extension yesterday and says the security of his deal will allow him to concentrate on continuing his development.

He said: “Now I don’t have to worry. For the next three years I can just concentrate on my performances and just keep getting better with every game.

“It’s the gaffer showing faith in me and rewarding me for doing well. I’ve been involved a lot this year and I’d like to think I’m getting better with every game.

“With every game that goes by I feel more confident.

“I believe in myself more that I can make an impact. I feel like one of the team now and a big part of it so it’s just mainly confidence more than anything.”
