Barnsley head coach Gerhard Struber says he will look to bring in “two or three” players in January to set his side on the path to safety.

Struber has been in charge at Oakwell for a month and has taken seven points from his first six games.

The Reds are beginning to adapt to his style, with the results improving, and Struber reckons a minor strengthening period in January should be enough to keep them in the Championship.

“We grow up every day in the training,” he said.

“We have a big concentration in my style. They listen and develop every training and every game.

“We have a good progress in our process and this is the right direction and we have to work every day.

“When we create one or two or three players in January that can help us we will be on the right way to stay in the league.

“We have the right characters in my team. In the next transfer window we buy or loan players with the correct mentality.

“That is the most important thing. Talent is on the other side. It is very important to work as a team. We have a difficult situation.”

The Reds will hope to continue their progress with a tough trip to Millwall on Saturday.

They are boosted by the likely return of defenders Aapo Halme and Ben Williams from injury.

“It looks good, they have both done training,” Struber added. “Aapo is fit and Ben can make a complete session with us and is also fit. We have a good situation with our players.”
