These photos show just some of the city landmarks that have disappeared since the start of the 1960s.
From schools to pubs, cinemas and factories, they are all pictured here during the 60s or 70s, before being consigned to history.
Among the once familiar features you might recognise are the iconic Tinsley cooling towers, the much-loved Hole in the Road underpass, and the elegant Hippodrome Theatre, on Cambridge Street.
The school where Def Leppard played their first ever gig, Sheffield City Polytechnic’s distinctive Nelson Mandela students union building, and a grand cutlery works in the city centre are just some of the other lost landmarks captured in this retro photo gallery.
How many of these old Sheffield landmarks do you remember, and which do you feel was the biggest loss?

29. The Cricket
The Cricket pub, on Cricket Inn Road, Sheffield, is pictured here sometime during the 1960s or 70s. It was built in around 1936, and demolished in the mid-90s. | Picture Sheffield/Douglas Edward Axe/Brian Douglas Stevens Photo: Picture Sheffield/Douglas Edward Axe/Brian Douglas Stevens
