This time of year can be tricky when it comes to fashion; one minute the sun is shining and the next minute the clouds turn grey and showers that April is known for come down.
The temperature is getting a bit warmer, but there’s often still a chill in the air. It’s not quite the time to brave going outside with nothing covering your arms, even on the warmer days, but you’re definitely ready to get out of your heavy winter pieces.

To start, I love it simply because it’s a dress. I’m so fed up of wearing my jeans everyday now and I’m keen to embrace different types of clothing now the sun is starting to make an appearance. However, it’s simply not warm enough yet to start wearing the playsuits and shorts I get out when temperatures peak. But, the Roses Are Red Cotton Shirt Dress gets the balance right between a beauty, floaty dress that still provides coverage.
A big part of that comes down to the sleeves for me. These give that ‘just-right’ amount of extra warmth which is still needed on days when although the sun is shining the thermometer is still reading somewhere in the mid to late teens. And let’s be honest, British summers are extremely unpredictable right now so we can get plenty of those types of days all the way through the spring/summer and even well in to autumn season too.
The Roses Are Red Cotton Shirt Dress could be worn on warm days on its own as its made with soft, breathable cotton. On the cooler days, it could be teamed with a jacket or a pair of tights to give you extra layers and warmth.
I keep reaching for my Roses Are Red Cotton Shirt Dress time and time again recently; especially if I’m going out for the day and know I can’t easily change outfits in the middle of the day if the weather drastically changes. I know I have to take my umbrella and my sunglasses, and a jacket which I may or may not need (and maybe even different types of shoes if I’m travelling in the car), but that’s quite enough to think about. I am glad this dress gives me so much and peace of mind thanks to it’s versatility.
The all-over pink floral pattern is beautiful too, and I love the heart-shaped buttons down the front for an added feminine and elegant touch. Plus, the hidden zip on the side and the waist seam and belt make for a flattering silhouette.
The Roses Are Red Cotton Shirt Dress is also one of those brilliant pieces which can effortlessly be dressed up or dressed down. If going for a dressier look, I’d pair with the Margot Tweedy Bow Heeled Shoes, or if your look is more casual I’d choose the Anna Wedged Sandals.
