5 Star Wrestling: Bram and Jack Jester ruin Eddie Ryan's homecoming

Hometown hero Eddie Ryan saw his dreams of becoming 5 Star Champion shattered on an emotional and controversial night in Plymouth.

'The English Lion' battled bravely against improbable odds stacked against him by 'The All-American American' Jake Hager as 5 Star Wrestling:LIVE on FreeSports came from the venue where Ryan used to watch wrestling as a kid.

But at the end of the night, the Pavilions crowd were stunned into silence by the intervention of two invading wrestlers who are not signed to the 5 Star Wrestling roster.

They attacked Eddie at ringside during his 5 Star Championship match with Hager and smashed a glass bottle over the fan favourite's head before being escorted from the venue by security.

All that was left was for the scheming champion to pin the Brit to retain his belt.

The interlopers were Bram and Jack Jester, neither of whom are officially part of 5 Star.

Rob Van Dam, Rey Mysterio, Moose and Grado celebrate their win

Jester, in fact, quit the promotion two weeks ago after a rant against management who, he claimed, had told him he was "too unpredictable for live TV".

Bram had been spotted in the 5 Star audience for weeks leading up to his attack, drinking and trying to get himself on camera.

Finally on Thursday night, they struck to cost Eddie his hometown title dream.

Earlier in the night, the challenger had earned his championship opportunity with a phenomenal effort in the ring against five tough opponents, surviving a 5 Star Gauntlet match instigated by Hager.

Also at the exciting Plymouth show, Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam, Moose and Grado gained a measure of revenge on 'Liverpool's Number 1' Zack Gibson, Rampage Brown, Adam 'Flex' Maxted and 'Champagne' Charlie Sterling by winning a thrilling eight-man tag team match.

But Gibson was irate at the finish, pointing out that his foot was under the bottom ring rope when Mysterio pinned him.

The angry Scouser has vowed to be at this Thursday night's event at the SSE Arena in Belfast as a guest on Flash Morgan Webster's Modcast chat show.

'The Mouth of Maghull' will make a big announcement about the unfair treatment he believes he and other British wrestlers receive in 5 Star Wrestling.

Tap or Snap Championship

Matt Riddle the new 5 Star Wrestling: Tap or Snap Champion

The 5 Star Wrestling: Tap or Snap Championship took centre stage last Thursday night in Plymouth thanks to an all-time classic bout.

Matt Riddle captured the submission-only title after he answered Mark Haskins' open challenge and then made the Brit tap out in a fantastic battle of holds, strikes and intensity.

The former UFC fighter is now due to be in Belfast this Thursday night looking to make somebody else Tap or Snap.

Certainly the talented Scotsman BT Gunn is on Riddle's radar after he won a 'Beat the Clock' challenge on Thursday night to become Tap or Snap number one contender.

Gunn defeated 'The Professional' Nathan Cruz with the Coatbridge Crossface and then watched as Joey Axl beat teenager Ricky Knight Jnr, but just failed to beat the 9 minutes 21 seconds time set by the Scot.

Fans of great wrestling will no doubt be excited about the prospect of a Riddle vs Gunn matchup, and with Haskins in line for a rematch things are definitely hotting up in 5 Star Wrestling's submission division.
