'You will be sadly missed': Tributes paid to missing Sheffield man after discovery of body

Tributes have been paid to a missing Sheffield man after the discovery of a body today.

The body of a man was found close to Highfield Lane, Waverley, this morning and although the identity has not yet been confirmed, it is believed to be that of 49-year-old Craig Hammond, who was reported missing from his home in Swallownest in March.

South Yorkshire Police said: “While formal identification has not yet taken place, officers do believe it to be that of Craig.

“His family have been informed and are being supported.”

Posting tributes on Facebook, Steve Smithy said: “R.I.P Craig. Gone too soon.”

Pete Bailey added: “R.I.P my good friend. Will miss you.”

Cheryl Smedley added: “R.I.P Hammy love. You were a lovely lad. Knew you from school.”

Neil Cheetham described Crag as a ‘good friend’.

Lee Cainey added: “A good friend and work colleague. You will be sadly missed.”
