Why is someone altering the 0's on Sheffield's road signs to letter Q's?

If you have driven around Sheffield recently, you might well have spotted a few subtle alterations to some of the city’s road traffic signs.

For a fair few of the city’s signs appear to have been defaced – with zeroes on speed limit signs gently changed to letter Q’s.

There’s one on the Parkway at the junction with Derek Dooley Way – but eagle-eyed drivers have spotted them at other locations in the city too.

It appears the zeroes have been altered using small pieces of black gaffer tape – but quite why remains a mystery.

It's not just the numbers which have been altered too – letter O's have also been targeted by the mystery sign swapper.

One sign directing drivers to Manor has been switched to Manqr.
