Sheffield weather: Icy roads and frozen pavements will not shift today amid sub-zero temperatures

Sheffield is being warned that the weekend’s icy paths and roads will persist all day today amid freezing temperatures.
The heavy snow from the weekend settled and froze overnight. Combined with thick mist forecast all morning until 2pm, it means trips out today (December 12) could be perilous for Steel City residents.
Temperatures will not rise about 0C all day and will fall as low as -3C this afternoon, meaning the icy conditions are unlikely to shift.
Residents are being urged to drive extra carefully as a result.
