VIDEO: Sheffield home bursts into flames after being 'struck by lightning'

Firefighters have been battling a fire at Sheffield home which burst into flames after being struck by lightning.

It happened just before 7.30pm this evening (Tuesday, June 16) as a dramatic thunderstorm swept over the city.

Smoke could be seen billowing for miles after a ‘lightning bolt’ struck the roof of a three-storey property on Millhouses Lane, Millhouses.

Five fire engines and a turntable ladder were called to deal with blaze.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have confirmed.
