Tributes paid to Sheffield women killed in horror crash

Tributes have been paid to two Sheffield women killed in a horror crash.

The women, named locally as Margaret Collier and Caroline Ball, were killed in a two-vehicle collision on the road between Eckington and Renishaw, Derbyshire, early yesterday morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the smash on the A6135 Station Road, Renishaw, just before 5.40am.

A blue Vauxhall Corsa and a blue BMW had collided and the women, who were travelling in the Corsa, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old Dronfield man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released under investigation as the police probe into the collision continues.

Friends and family left touching tributes at the roadside.

One read: “I am going to miss you more than you will ever realise. My mum, best friend and the most important person in my life. You was the light at the end of the tunnel, always making everyone shine. Love you so much always and forever, Chelsea and Andrew.”

A message from Margaret’s husband, Raymond Collier said: “To my darling wife you will be surely missed. Love you always.”

Another tribute read: “To our Mags, we will miss you always. Love you to the moon and back. Rochelle, Jade, Corbin.”

And another read: "Love you nan nan. Will miss you always, love River.”

Mr Collier, also used a Facebook post to thank people for their messages of support following the fatal crash.

He said: “Thank you for all the lovely messages. Miss you my beautiful wife and my wonderful friend, Caroline Ball.”

Jayne Queenie Burgin said she was ‘broken hearted’ at the loss of her two friends.

Janine Humphreys, who also knew both women posted: “Fly high. Two top birds.”

William Keeton added: “They will be missed.”

And John Marshall described Margaret and Caroline as ‘absolutely beautiful ladies’.

The road was closed between Renishaw and Eckington was closed until around 3pm yesterday while police investigative work was carried out at the crash scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, may have seen the vehicles before the collision or who has dashcam or CCTV footage, should contact Derbyshire Police on 101.
