Lane closed on busy M18 near Rotherham after rush hour crash

Highways England tweeted that the incident occurred on the M18 southbound J1 near Rotherham and Maltby on A631 to Thurncroft Interchange on M1.

Emergency services have now been deployed to the scene of the crash for recovery operations.

The collision caused a 30-minute delay and 4-mile tailbacks towards the A1(M) junction.

Motorists have been advised to be cautious as average speeds in the area are approximately 10mph.

At 9:22am, Highways England said lanes now are now reopened as the vehicles involved have been moved to the hard shoulder.
