Christmas 2019 bus times: timetables in Sheffield over Christmas and the New Year

Bus services can be under even more pressure, as people make short trips in the days following Christmas to make the most of the Boxing Day sales.

But bus drivers and staff need their Christmas holidays too, and often timetables are amended to reflect a shorter number of staff behind the wheel.

That can have an affect on your travel plans. But fear not, we've brought together the key Christmas information from all of the major players in the Sheffield area, to help you plan your festive travel itinerary as effectively as possible.

Monday 23 December

A weekday service will be operated by Hulleys of Baslow, Powells Bus, Stagecoach (the 44, 58 and M92 services only), and TM Travel.

All other operators will be running a Saturday service, though First will be adding additional early morning journeys to their Saturday service on all services in Sheffield, and Stagecoach will be doing the same on the following services: 1, 2, 7, 7a, 25, 83a, 88, SL1, SL1a, and X2.

Stagecoach services 44, 58 and M92 will operate as a normal Monday service.

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, most bus companies in the Sheffield area will be operating their Saturday timetables, with last departures between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

There are exceptions to this, and Arriva, Powells Bus and TM Travel will all be running a normal weekday service, with an early finish in place.

Hulleys of Baslow will be running a normal weekday service.

Stagecoach will be operating their services to and from XPO Logistics for shift times.

Christmas Day

There will be no services on the buses, trains or trams on Christmas Day.

Boxing Day

A handful of services will operate between 7am and 7pm in Sheffield only, provided by by First, Stagecoach and TM Travel.

Friday 27 December

On 27 December most bus companies will be running their Saturday service.

Powells Bus (service 5) will be operating a normal weekday service.

Saturday 28 December

A Saturday service will be in place on 28 December.

Sunday 29 December

A Sunday service will be in place on 29 December.

Monday 30 December

Saturday services will be running, though Powells Bus (service 5) will be running a weekday service.

New Year’s Eve

A Saturday service will be in operation on most services, with last departures between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

The following exceptions apply:

TM Travel will be running a Monday to Friday service, with last departures between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

Powells Bus will be running a weekday service, with the exception of Service 5 which will operate a Tuesday service.

Stagecoach will be operating bus services to and from XPO Logistics for shift times.

New Year’s Day

There will be no services being run by most bus operators in Sheffield, though some services will run between 8am and 6pm operated by First.
