Major Sheffield city centre junction close to 'Dutch' roundabout closed for next two weeks
The diversion down Netherthorpe Road is likely to cause congestion until mid-August
A major Sheffield junction close to the ‘Dutch’ roundabout in city centre will shut for the next two weeks.

Traffic delays are likely until mid-August with the closure of the roundabout at Tenter Street and Broad Lane.
The junction on the route between Upper Hanover Street and West Bar was rebuilt into a roundabout in 2025.
Now, Sheffield City Council says the roundabout will be closed to traffic “for up to two weeks” starting today (Monday, July 27).
Surrounding roads are expected to be busier as a result, particularly Broad Lane and Townhead Street.

What is the diversion?
The closure on Broad Lane and Tenter Street is in place between Garden Street and Solly Street, and takes in Townhead Street, Hollis Croft, White Croft.
The diversion route for drivers travelling from Broad Lane via Tenter Street will take traffic along:
- Netherthorpe Road to Hoyle Street roundabout
- Then continuing along Shalesmoor to Gibraltar Street and West Bar
- The same route will operate in reverse for traffic travelling in the opposite direction.
The diversion is expected to greatly increase congestion on Netherthorpe Road, West Bar, Shalesmoor, and surrounding streets.
