Tram disruption caused by a serious police incident this morning has ended.

South Yorkshire Supertram has now confirmed that its services are back to normal after Yellow and Blue route services were suspended after a road traffic collision in the early hours.

Police sealed off Upper Hanover Street at the crossroads with Glossop Road, heading in the direction of St Mary's Gate.

Police cars were parked on the tramlines earlier while accident investigation work was carried out.

South Yorkshire Supertram said in a statement shortly after 10am: “Blue and Yellow trams are returning to previously scheduled service after the earlier incident.

“Please expect delays as services are returned to schedule. We apologise for the delay to your journeys.”
