Train disruption for Sheffield travellers as Storm Boelo damages rail network
Northern trains are being cancelled and disrupted
Train passengers heading form Sheffield are being advised to check their journeys, with Storm Boelo causing disruption across a number of routes.
On Sunday, October 25, yellow weather warnings were in place across Sheffield and the north of England as the storm brought winds of between 55-65mph.
While no warnings are in place on Monday, October 26, the affects of the storm on the nation’s train network - including damage to overhead wiring - continues to cause problems.

Train operator Northern has released a series of disruption warnings, affecting major routes out of Leeds and York.
While no disruptions out of Sheffield have currently been reported, connecting services through Leeds to locations including Halifax are being cancelled.
Meanwhile, the theft of signalling cables is causing disruption on services between Sheffield and Adwick, as well as Doncaster and Leeds - this is expected to be cleared by 9am.
The following routes are being disrupted by the adverse weather conditions:
- Leeds to York via Harrogate - some trains will either not call at Weeton, or Headingley, in both directions
- Leeds to Chester - trains towards Chester will not call at Bramley; trains running towards Leeds will still call at Bramley
- Newcastle to Ashington - all trains will not call at Blyth Bebside
- Ashington to Newcastle - all trains will not call at Northumberland Park - Tyne & Wear Metro services are unaffected
- York to Blackpool North - some trains will not call at New Pudsey, in both directions
- Hull to Halifax - all trains will start and finish at Bradford Interchange; Halifax will still be served on other routes
- Blackburn to Headbolt Lane - some trains will not call at Smithy Bridge; you can use the Wigan Wallgate to Leeds service, which will still call at Smithy Bridge
- Blackburn to Rochdale via Bolton and Manchester Victoria - fewer trains than normal
Network Rail have been working overnight to fix a number of problems across the north of England and Scotland.
Chris Wright, Network Rail North West route director, said on Sunday: "We’re really sorry for the disruption to people’s journeys today caused by Storm Boelo.
“Safety is our number one priority and we’re working as fast as we can to assess the overnight damage, clear debris and reopen routes as best as possible.
“However, with the extreme weather continuing today I’d urge everyone to check National Rail Enquiries and follow the advice of their train operator with weather conditions changing so quickly".
