Re-surfacing underway on busy main road following burst water pipe drama
Re-surfacing is underway on Fenton Road in Rotherham
Re-surfacing is underway on Fenton Road in Rotherham after a burst main over the weekend left a number of houses temporarily without water.
Water was pouring down the carriageway on Saturday afternoon (July 25) with a section of the road closed as a result, with one eyewitness described the situation at the busy junction as “a bit chaotic.”
A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “A number of properties were temporarily without water for under four hours overnight on Saturday whilst our contractors, M Group, attended a burst main on Fenton Road, Rotherham.
“The burst was repaired very quickly and supplies restored - however, considerable consequential damage occurred and a partial road closure remains in place to keep everyone safe whilst damage to the highway is repaired.
“We’d like to thank everyone in the area for their patience as we carried out this repair and would like to apologise for the disruption this may have caused.
“The partial road closure will be removed as soon as it is safe to do so.”
