The Waiting Miner was unveiled at E.ON's Blackburn Meadows renewable energy plant on September 23.
South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard officially unveiled the statue at a ceremony attended by representatives from the National Union of Mineworkers.
A plaque on the statue describes it as: “A replica of the statue commemorating the opening of Richborough Power Station June 1956 - the original representing miners at coal faces in Yorkshire.”
The statue commemorates generations of miners whose work helped power South Yorkshire.
The unveiling also marks the transformation of the Blackburn Meadows site from a coal-fired power station to a renewable energy plant.
The ceremony included an address from the Mayor, the unveiling of the statue and a wreath laying.
The famous Tinsley Towers were demolished in 2008.
