South Yorkshire Police close main road after ‘car overturns in horror crash’

A key South Yorkshire road remains closed this morning as police and emergency services deal with a major incident.

Bawtry Road in Brinsworth, Rotherham has been closed between Bonet Lane and Ackworth Lane following reports of a vehicle colliding with a house in the road in the early hours of the morning.

Police, ambulance and fire crews have all been at the scene.

The road is understood to be sealed off in both directions with diversions in place.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that a Volkswagen Golf crashed into properties in Bawtry Road shortly after midnight last night.

It is understood the vehicle may have overturned in the incident.

Police forensic and crime investigation scene officers remain at the scene in Bawtry Road and are expected to remain throughout the morning.
