South Yorkshire motorists warned of road closure

Saturday Roadworks at Canklow Bridge, between Canklow Roundabout and Whitehill Lane, will cause the road to be temporarily closed for around two weeks.

Diversions will be in place via Centenary Way, Sheffield Road and Bawtry Road for duration of the works.

Rotherham Council Assistant Director of Planning, Regeneration and Transportation Paul Woodcock, apologised for any inconvenience caused by the works.

"This is an important piece of work to carry out essential maintenance where the road bridge crosses the River Rother and we will also be installing a crossing point and refuge to make crossing the road safer for local people," he said.

"We have scheduled the work to take place during the school holiday period to minimise disruption as much as possible for people, and pedestrians will still be able to cross the bridge and access to businesses will be maintained. However, if anyone does have any issues caused by the road closure, our staff on site will be only too happy to discuss these with them."
