Smoke and flames seen for miles across the city after huge fire breaks out in Sheffield

Flames from a large blaze in Sheffield last night could be seen across the city.

The fire on open land on Pitsmoor Road, Pitsmoor, involved a large amount of rubbish.

It generated huge flames and plumes of black smoke.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident just before 10pm.

Firefighters tackled a blaze in Pitsmoor last night

On Saturday night, crews from Sheffield tackled a huge moorland blaze in Ringinglow, on the outskirts of the city.

Anyone with information about the Pitsmoor blaze should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
