Sign up for homeless charity sleep out in cinema
The sponsored Sleep Out at Abbeydale Picture House is being organised by St Wilfid’s Centre, which has supported homeless people in Sheffield for nearly 30 years.
It is the first time this Sheffield landmark has ever been used for a Sleep Out fundraiser, with participants asked to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship for the opportunity to bed down for the night inside the 100 year old former cinema turned community arts venue.

As members of the public we try to reach out to them – by giving food, a hot drink, money or letting them know about the services there to help them, like St Wilfrid’s Centre. But we also wonder how that person ended up in such a desperate situation.
“Our Sleep Out aims to raise awareness of the issues around homelessness and get people talking about the local situation and how we can all help. It’s also an opportunity to sleep over in a beautiful building after a great night of entertainment.”
The event takes place on March 16 from 7pm and includes an evening of live music and drama.
Participants will be provided with a light supper before bed, breakfast and a yoga class to loosen stiff limbs the next day. Tickets are also available for the evening entertainment only.
