Sheffield Wednesday: Jos Luhukay sets expected date on Jordan Thorniley return

Defender Jordan Thorniley could make a swift comeback for Sheffield Wednesday after suffering an injury in midweek.

The young centre-half limped out of the 2-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest because of calf damage and misses Saturday's Championship clash at Aston Villa.

But the Owls are optmistic the Academy graduate will be back in contention for next Friday's home Yorkshire derby against Leeds United.

"He feels good, but not so good that he can play against Aston Villa," manager Jos Luhuay said. 

"He feels good enough that we don't think he will be out for long and hopefully he can start team training again on Monday."

The 21-year-old, who came off in the closing stages against Forest, was described by Luhukay as Wednesday's best player in the City Ground reverse, has 

"We hope that maybe he will be available to face Leeds United next Friday," Luhukay added.

Thorniley's absence against Villa is likely to mean a first start for new loan signing Michael Hector.

Meanwhile, Sam Hutchinson is also expected back in full training on Monday after recovering from a groin complaint.

Luhukay ruled out any chance of the the midfielder being involved at Villa Park.
