Sheffield street dealer behind bars for 'selfish and greedy' offending

A man who who sold heroin and crack cocaine on the streets of Sheffield has been jailed for two and a half years for his 'selfish and greedy' offending.

Kyle Checkley, aged 22, was arrested on Grimesthorpe Road South, Burngreave, last July after undercover officers patrolling the city suburb spotted him and a group of men in the street and suspected him of dealing drugs.

POLICE: Fears for missing Sheffield manCheckley, of Firshill Walk, Shirecliffe, ran off when he realised he had been spotted and tried to dispose of a plastic bag he was carrying but officers detained him and found that the bag contained 76 wraps of crack cocaine and 39 of heroin.

CRIME: Extra police patrols ordered in wake of sex attack in Doncaster parkCheckley pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

He also admitted a further offence of possessing a mobile phone while on remand in prison ahead of his hearing at Sheffield Crown Court.

PC Gareth Webb said: "Drugs are a blight to our communities and cause untold pain and heartache for so many families who have to watch their loved ones deteriorate through the use of drugs.

"Checkley’s offending in dealing drugs is selfish and greedy, with no thought or consideration for the impact it will have on those he was choosing to sell to, with just a pure interest in the money to be made, and a complete disregard for the law.

"I hope he has time to reflect on his offending now he is behind bars, and I also hope this sends a strong message to anyone else who believes they are above the law, that we are determined to keep making arrests and disrupting those who choose to be involved in any form of criminal activity in Sheffield."
